This is a list based on this topic (as of May 10th, 2007) of all the replies I could make out. I put the model numbers in EXACTLY as the posts read, so there may be duplicates and I'm sure I missed a couple. I had lots of questions about MIC choices, and this helped me put a picture together. Perhaps it'll help some of you. Here goes:

Hey, I think it's a good idea. Thanks for sharing that list. That mics you weren't shure about...they are Studio Projects. I've got more mics now, so you should add one more Beyer M260 and AKG D12E to your list
It's no surprise Shure SM57 "won". |

I see now. I didn't correlate "SP" with Studio Projects. I just thought it was part of the model number....
I did save the file, but I'm not going to keep it updated or anything. I just wanted an idea of some of the more popular models, plus I wanted to see how well used some of the MICS I'd been considering are.

Actually, since he has been looking for mics in the medium price range, he didn't do too badly. Here are the mics with over 10 hits
AT 4033
AT ATM25
AKG C414B-ULS
AKG D112
Beyer M201
EV RE-20
Rode NT-5
Sennheiser MD421
Sennheiser E602
Shure SM57
Shure SM58
Shure SM81
Shure Beta58
Not exactly a bad list. |

As I understand it, he looked at all the mics listed in the mic closet sticky. As you say, that means everyone who frequents the board, but it seems to have worked for his purposes. My guess is that at the low price range and high price range things are all over the map. In the mid range the popular mics really are pretty darn good if not necessarily the best. |

I wanted a list for me personally of which mics are out there in studios. This is a list of mics from RO users writing in to say what was in their mic locker. It has absolutely nothing to do with quality, only quantaty. Nothing to do with how often they are used, just that they have been acquired by a studio.

I'll add mine to the Mic Closet thread - you'll need to update this one - there are a couple of gaps i can fill. |
