Hey guys!

I just got approval from the client to make the announcement, so I'm making my rounds on this one. (I'm really excited, so pardon my typewritten giddyness...)

Next month, I'll be travelling to Florida (Yay Daytona Beach!) to record the American Horn Quartet. (www.hornquartet.com) They are doing a series of weekly seminars - 1 in Switzerland (just passed) and 1 in Daytona. I'll be recording their final recital as well as the participants' recitals during the week. In addition, I'll be speaking as a guest lecturer at the seminar on how to record the orchestra, small ensemble and the horn!

Now I just have to prepare my powerpoint presentation....should be fun!

If I'm allowed to, I'll post some clips when it's all said and done. (They'll have to approve any and all clips used for marketing.)

If you're not familiar with the AHQ, you should seriously check them out when they make it to your area (they tour internationally.) It's a group of amazing hornplayers who put on concerts of (mostly) original music in a way which could only be described as beyond virtuosity! In other words, these guys ROCK!

Anyway...sorry to "brag." I'm just genuinely excited about this. As a horn player, I look up to these guys with the utmost respect. It's truly an honor to work with individuals and a group of this caliber!

Cheers!

Jeremy

Jeremy- In addition to putting up samples here, I'd encourage them to put up samples on their web site. Their site is pretty good, but I think any artist in a niche market is missing the boat if they don't put samples on the web.

Thanks!

I agree Bob. I think that's very true - they do need some samples.

I lived there for about two years.

Go to the Oyster Pub, and to the Ocean Deck. Thank me later.

Thanks!

We (my horn playing associate and guinea pig for the demonstration) are in need of recommendations for restaurants and entertainment!

By any chance, do you know how the auditorium is at the community college? (That's where it's being held - DBCC theater). Also what about Westminster By the Sea Presbyterian?

I haven't been to either of those venues. I spent to much time at the aforementioned places!

Jeremy; CONGRATS, man!

One tip: Bring a good video camera and take some footage for your resume/website/youtube uploads. You'll be glad you did. Thumbs Up

Jeremy:
I live about 90 minutes from Daytona and will definitely plan to attend either the Westminster or DBCC concerts. I better warn you that the weather down here in August is stifling : mid-upper 90's, humidity greater than 80%. Today it'll be 95 IN THE SHADE! This can wreak havoc on gear, including laptops...not to mention taking the breath outta horn players!
BTW, I went online and saw the scheduling, but no mention of your presentation. Is that strictly for the workshop attendees?

Good advice Joe! If I can get ahold of a camera, I'll bring it. I don't think I could broadcast any of the concert stuff, but the seminar might be useful!

Moonbaby -

By all means, make it down if you can! If you are able to make it, let me know. I'll buy the beers after the show!

The scheduling thing is a tad wierd. They haven't updated the schedule at all on their webpage but they have sent it out to the registered participants. I would think that if they did advertise it, it might have a bit more draw. (Not just because of my portion, but Dave Weiner of Brass Arts Unlimited - one of the wizards in horn repair will be also attending and giving a seminar.)

To answer your question, yes, the recording seminar is only available to registered participants.

If you were to come to any of the shows, I would come to the one at the DBCC theater on Saturday the 11th at 7:30. This is the AHQ's performance and I can tell you from experience, it's a memorable concert. These guys are some of the finest horn players on the planet! Their shows are very entertaining as well.

Feel free to contact me off line (e-mail address in my profile is my personal, non-forwarded e-mail address).

Cheers!

Jeremy
