Mic clip to fit DPA stereo boom and CMC5

I've just purchased a DPA UA0837 stereo boom - the one without the mic clips. Now, I didn't know this beforehand, but the sliders on the boom are designed to hold mic clips with a narrow thread (a la the DPA clips)... . The problem is that the sliders have a kind of groove that ensures that only clips with a very narrow base will fit there. I can't, for example, use my Rode NT5 clips with the thread adapter fitted in... although the adapter's thread is the correct size, the base of the clip is too wide to fit properly on the boom sliders.

This is quite difficult to describe. I hope you can catch my drift.

Does anyone here use this boom with non-DPA clips? I'm looking for a clip that will both hold a CMC5 mic AND fit onto this boom (and don't say the DPA clip! I'm hoping for something less expensive).

Any suggestions most welcome.

The Sabra Som "magic clamp" is the best I've
ever come across. Two of those plus a couple of hex rods can even make a great decca tree.

The information on DPA's web site specifically says "Any microphone holder will fit the boom."

I'd talk to them and see what they have to say.

Ah yes, I think I can visualise the problem here. The mounts have a recessed hole beside the thread, and a wide clip won't screw down far enough, yes?

Have you tried unscrewing the thread and running it through the other side? I am not sure if that will work, because I can't remember what those mounts look like underneath.

Another workaround: the mount has the smaller mic thread, so screw a small-to-large thread adaptor onto it. Then, screw a large-to-small thread adaptor onto that, and screw on your microphone clip.

Not the most elegant solution, but it will work.

Also, DPA make a spacer that would do this job for you. They make it for setting up mics in ORTF or XY on their stereo bar (where the mic bodies or XLR connectors would collide without being spaced one above the other). IIRC, it is a metal cylinder about 2cm long, with a threaded hole on one end (small thread) and a threaded shaft on the other end (also small shaft). It screws onto the stereo bar's microphone mount, and the mic clip screws onto it. It's really just doing the same thing as what I described above, but with one piece instead of two.

Yes, I thought of the DPA spacers too, and will have to get a quote on them.

I've also seen a picture of the Shure A53M clip, which looks to have a narrow base. If anyone uses these (I've been told they're perfect for CMC bodies), it would be helpful to know its exact diameter.
