Hi all! I have been lurking around here for quite a while since I've registered, but I haven't posted anything yet, but I need some advice now.
I am going to be building a large extention on my house soon and, because I've been getting a lot of work in my small home studio that pays quite well, my wife has agreed to give me what used to be our old living room to expand my studio (see "New Setup" pic). I currently use a part of it as a controll room anyway and shift out one or two pieces of furniture when I have to record drums. I already use 3mX3m spare room as an isolation booth that is working great for vocals, acoustic instruments and amps.
All the ceilings are 3.5m high and all the walls are, like with most South African houses, brick walls (no drywalls). The extension will be almost identical to the large room I'm getting for the studio.
On the pic all the areas in grey will be my new studio. I'm going to use the large room as a controll room and for recording drums. One problem I see is that there will be a huge opening in the wall where a big glass sliding door used to be on my left-hand side next to my workstation. Will this have a huge impact on the room soundwise and, if so, can you give me any advice on how I should go about treating the room acoustically to help with this?
