I've found some great forum based resources on the net for guitar amp building and modifications, and wondered if anyone had any recomendations for the same thing in pro audio. I've built a modded a few guitar amps and fx pedals, and would like to mod my volumax and possible build a mic pre in the future. Any help is appreciated. |

Yeah I DIY a bit. I'm modding some old tube pre's - easier than starting from scratch thought I've done that as well - best guitar amps I've ever touched when you get 'em right. I want to try an 1176...
PRODIGY is great! Great folks and very helful.
Also http://www.geocities.com/m_natsume/hamptone_jfp and the GYRAF guy has a good tube preamp project you'll have to search for.
Keep posting your progress ... |

Thanks guys. I checked out the Prodigy group and that looks like a heck of a place. I applied but haven't been approved by a moderator yet. I stumbled on an Alesis 3630 mod thread over there that looks very interesting. I've got one laying around and may actually open her up over the weekend. |

Hey GR, if prodigy doesn't activate your account within a few days you may want to e-mail the moderator over there. I had to do that after they had a crash and deleted my old account for non-activity, I guess. I'm still wondering why they deleted me, but I guess non-activity for more than a few days makes them think you are spam. A bunch of folks including me have had problems getting activated over there lately. Let me know if you they don't get you going in a few days. I'll send them a message for you. It's certainly worth joining if you want to diy preamps and whatever. Their information helped me get two of my hand wired LA-2A improved clones up and running.
I'm on a long road trip to the DC area so I may not respond immediately.
