Glue was the only way that I know of...like glue them to a piece of cardboard and hang it on a nail driven into your bedroom wall.
That should get you going....basstraps, um hum. |

It's not important that they be attached to the walls, so you could hold them in place with something like a piece of string across the front an attached to picture hooks or staples or tacks. |

Here was my solution - I also didn't want to glue to the walls.
I used 2'x4' acoustic ceiling tiles (which actually have a decent NRC at 1kHz as well). In some places, I simply screwed them to the walls using drywall screws. In other places, I put up a 1" or 2" spacer (strips of wood) behind them and then screwed them to the wall through the spacers.
Then I put the foam onto the tiles.
This way, if/when I take down the tiles, I only have to take out 4 screws per large panel and put a little tiny bit of spackle in place.
As for bass traps, I simply use force. By stacking 8' of traps into an 8' tall corner, they kind of get wedged in there. Of course, you could always cut the ceiling tiles to smaller dimensions. (FWIW, it's much easier to do this with a jigsaw, but a sharp box cutter will do as well.) |
