Hey,
I pieced together this song today. "Head on Riot" it's like a rock/pop tune. Funny how after you work on something for 4 hours by the end your totally sick of it! Anyways, I realized after tracking the guitars and bass that I recorded the song too fast. Any thoughts would be appreciated on the sounds, mix, production etc...
THANKS

Not a bad mix.
Personally I would pull the drums back in the mix, get the other instruments up in the mix a bit.
Also the Hihat sounds a bit "clanky" when played partly open to me. (Is Clanky a word? LOL)
Also, I would look in to getting a touch more of the beater sound (or perhaps a touch more high end) to get just a tad more "click" in the kick to define it a bit more.
Snare and toms sound really nice.
On the acoustic guitar, it might benefit to do a bit of double tracking to widen up the sound instead of using a stereo mic technique on it. That would bring it more forward in the mix as well.
A bit of mid highs would help bring the electric guitar out front as well.
Bass guitar sounds just a tad muddy, some highs would help that a bit.
Other than that, not a bad mix at all.
and remember everyone's going to hear things differently, so what I say many may not agree with.
Good start! |
