Hello, I just finished this track; one of a four song demo. Let me know what you think of the mix overall and/or individual instrument sounds. Thanks. http://www.myspace.com/blackwatchmusic
P.S. this is a relatively small mp3, so take not of that. |

I like where you're going with the song. Overall I would say that you have a really solid foundation for what can be a great recording. One thing that I felt was that the mix was somewhat muddy. It would be great to hear some more definition in the highs... Another thing I would take a look at is the kick drum volume in the first few seconds of the song. It may just be a personal preference, but I think it could be taken down in volume just a little. But through the rest of song it seemed to sit pretty well. Otherwise, it was a pleasure to listen to, and quite catchy. |

Thanks for the reply! After posting this i remixed the song anyway (again). I eliminated two tracks, one being a tom track that threw my drum phase out of whack, another being a room mic on a guitar cab which also caused phase issues with the close mic. This decreased some muddiness. |

A lack of balance in the mix. It's like you have the parts, they sound good enough, played well and they are all placed in all the right places.
It's text book but has no individual fingerprint, so to speak. |
