Hi there, ok, my studios foundation has been thrown and i want to start planning ahead, the interior space im going to have available is 13m by 5m by 3m height, i am going to be dividing the spaces up into a live room a control room and a vocal booth i am going to seperate the rooms foundations as explained in rods book.

The building will be constructed from a double brick wall the bricks have air pockets inside (they have two hollow sections you can see from one side), would this be ideal? should we fill the air pockets of the bricks with crusher sand at every third layer of bricks? the builder suggests we put think pink aerolite (pink stuff) between the double walls aswell. would you suggest this method? is the pink stuff usefull with sound isolation i would think that it is more for heat insulation?

my plan was to build a plain double wall and then put drywalling against the brick wall on the inside with a layer of rockwool between the drywalling and brick wall to help with the sound isolation as there will be alot of drums and loud guitar amps being recorded at the studio. rockwool is expensive would pink aerolite be as effective as rockwool as its cheaper and would it be better to place the rockwool or pink stuff here than between the double wall?

second question is at what angle should i idealy splay my control room walls? would 4m in front and meeting up at 6m at the back of the room be angled enough as seen on the sonar studios plan? please help me out guys im no building guru and not familiar with all of the terms on this site?

any info needed please just ask

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't, you run the risk of creating a bridge between the two leaves and defeating the mass-air-mass principle.

It means that the cement for the walls foundation has been set in the ground.

What would you then suggest would be the best option for the walls then, would you build a double brick wall and then put up drywalling on the rooms inside with rockwool or pink stuff between the drywalling and brick wall

here is a link to some pics and the same question on another forum perhaps it will be a little clearer for you....

Its already clear to me. Thanks for asking.

edit: if the void or space is big enough to allow installing the pink stuff and will only touch one of the two walls this would be a standard procedure.
