Need help with small problem in home studio

hello

I am new here.

I have question.

At first what I want:

I want to play music from CUBASE some tracks and sing in microphone and record my vocals. But in vocal track records not only what a sing, it records everything - my voice, and other tracks which plays along.

My stuff:

Sound card: SCOPE LUNA
Program: CUBASE SX3
Mixer: LEM

Connections:

OUTPUT from sound card connected to mixers line number 10. On this track button alt 3-4 are not activated.

ALT 3-4 OUTPUT from mixer connected to sound cards input.

Microphone connected to mixers line 1 and on here activated button ALT 3-4

For example:

I selected in CUBASE to play drum track and piano track. On those tracks I do not select buttons READ or WRITE. I want to hear those two tracks plaing and sing on it, but record only vocal track.

I think that problem is not in connection with card to mixer.

Yes I do not have speakers, I use headphones.

I'm gonna guesstimate that you are not using the s/pdif i/o...correct me if I am wrong.

You have two analog ways out and two analog ways in. Sound comes out on line 1/Left and line 2/Right. Sound goes in on line 1/left and line 2/right. It's a simple math equation I believe.

Your pan settings are going to help here. On your board, pan your tracks that are coming out to the right. Then pan your line in for record to the left. This should get them out of each others way and allow you to hear and record.

Or you may find that you must pan the channels opposite from that, e.g. On your board, pan your tracks that are coming out to the left then pan your line in for record to the right.
