this was sort of fooling around, but i ended up giving it a thorough mixdown. disregard the poor vocal performance, but please do note the sound of the vocals.
let this load while you read the rest:
http://www.rockstardave.com/per/bhd/singalong-dub.mp3
here's what you care about:
kick - beta52a
sn top - audix f90
sn bot - sm57
OH's - cascade m37 (2)
toms - sennheiser e604 (3)
bass loop (boss rc20) - cheapo DI
rhythm gtr Left - floor pod DI + sm57 on amp
rhythm gtr Right - floor pod DI + sm57 on amp
lead gtr Left - floor pod DI + sm57 on amp
lead gtr Right - floor pod DI + sm57 on amp
vocals - beta58
room - at3035
everything run through Mackie Onyx mixer -> firewire -> Tracktion2
neat things about this recording:
the band is a duo and it was done LIVE !! the Line6 floor pod played a huge role in this recording.
thoughts ???
ps - not my band at all, so i am unconcerned with performance or musicianship, strictly the mix characteristics. THANKS!!!!!!!!! |

That was pretty cool for only a duo. The only comments I could make about your engineering is blah blah blah, yadee yadee yadee. Gotta' love those lyrics. I do. Although I'd like to hear a little more presence & high end on the vocal. Nice warm proximity effect but a little too nondescript verging on muddy but it is friendly sounding and not obnoxious. So in that respect, don't cut low end, boost the midrange & high freaks.
Quite entertaining
