I wrote a song a couple months back and recorded and mixed it. I recorded all of the guitar, bass, and synth. I used drums samples to create the beats.
For some reason, I believe I copied extra measures of the choruses, so bare with me please, each chorus is only supposed to be 4 measures.
I also lost some audio quality when uploading it to myspace, so just keep that in mind.
heres the link to my music myspace:

It's the first song, I believe titled "dancing the room"
Thanks for you input, anything helps.

I have no real idea of the genre here.
However that drum track constantly repeating was annoying, I got 1 min in before I gave up complaining of a sore right ear.
I like the guitar tones, to a point, in fact the whole song has an interesting tone. Kind of non-confrontational at the same time as being quite rockin'. Kind of tunneled sound though, no real richness in any zone, bass, mid or high. |

I admit, I got very lazy with the drums, I was in a slump of non-creativeness. As far as the tone goes, I get what you are saying. I could have EQ'ed the guitars a little better, not to mention it was an emulated line-out from my head instead of miking the cab.
but thanks for the input.
and now after listening to it for a few months, I think I like the song better without the synth in the intro.
the rhythm guitars need to be more pronounced IMO. |

Do you have a speaker cabinet?
That's your best bet for a good tone.
If you don't have a cab then you can use a line out to your audio interface. |

I decided a while ago, the best microphone for my voice is a broken one.
Even my foot-tapping is off-key. |

hey andrew....
i just wanna say that i Like your style....alot! -it's right down my alley. i just chcked out your myspace the other day, but i forget where you're from.- my band, emberwell is actually looking for another guitar player and i think you'd be just the guy! lol.
we're from central PA though, ...so i guess that wouldn't work (cause if you lived anywhere close to us, i would have heard of you by now )
so anyways....kudos on your style! i think the other guys on here just think it sounds dull cause there's no vocals maybe. i think a good emo-ish, raspy voice would go great with what you're playing.
you got a good sounding recording goin also.
keep it up! |

thank you Jordy - and no, sadly I don't live anywhere near you. I live in south Florida.
Thanks a lot for the complement - one of these days I will have to re-record this song with a real drum kit and actually mic the cab.
Oh and I listened to your band - I like the feel. I am not a recording connoisseur by any means, but I might try to EQ the vocals a little differently.
Maybe boost the mids and highs a slight bit to get some cut.
And throw some reverb on there.
But all in all, great job dude. :]
if you'd like, check out this band I am filling in for, for a few months.
