Sup,
This is part of the studio session. It was recorded late in the day, it's from the last session we recorded.
Basically want some input on this recording.
My drum beater had broken through the tape on the head and was sticking to the head and it kinda annoyed me, which took the song on a weird tangent. "Mad World" was recorded straight after "As it Happened" and contains more of this style, everyone was feeling it and the language goes there. Be warned.
Haven't re-amped these yet as these are the first mix downs.
Laters.
Oh, here's the link. |

I'm sorry. My telepathy is down. Could you post a link? |

Well, the guitars are just DI for now, so not much to comment on there.
The drums sound good to me, but if i recall this was a pro studio setup, right?
The composition is, er, improvised.
The lyrics ("yo, guys..") are pretty deep.
What else are you looking for input on? |

lol
So much gold in that post.
I never get bored playing with myself. Hang on what are we talking about?
I know it didn't sound good. But for some reason it doesn't sound bad to me. Just angry, messy, whack and like the randomness it is, random. Though my beater sticking down messes my rhythm a bit, but I was so wrecked at this stage I was sloppy anyways. However, it holds memories for me. Tainted with the flavours of our lives.
A band with no place to jamb is no longer a band. It's just a bunch of guys who play with themselves.
Bushmaster, you got one of the sweetest studios I know of. It appears to be built just so people can play and record and have fun. Your offer to come and jamb has lifted my spirits no end. Chances of me finding myself in Ohio any time soon though, are slim. But if I am, I'm totally down. |

Hi,
Drums sound fantastic to me! The entire recording is very dynamic and natural. I love this style of recording. What OH method are you using? It sounds fantastic. The Kick sounds great too! |

heyoh!
i took a listen, and i liked the mix! - i could hear every instrument well. -and i'm listening from the crappy speaker built in to the computer here at work.
the drums sound good. - i like the ride cymbal (i think) sound you got....and...i may not prefer the genre of music per say, but i like your playing style. - you seem to be able to really feel where the music is headed and respond to it well on the drums... keep jammin!!
oh yeah....i just wanna let you know that, this was my first time hearing any of your stuff, and it sounds good! - i was reading other posts before where that VonRock CUNT was totally trying to tear you apart. -he just seems like a washed up, grumpy, arrogant woman who has nothing better to do than single people out and bitch around about stuff. - so i just thought i'd say (for what it's worth) that I think your mixs sound really good!
peace

I can't stop giggling. It's 6:50am too. Not usually a time for me to giggle. Thanks Briana and Jordan.
The OH's are Rode NT5s placed about a foot above and in front of my head and about 4 feet apart. The cymbals are all Zildjian A customs. The ride was his, the crash mine. Seems the studio owner and I have the same taste in cymbals. The style of playing the ride is to have your stick tip behind the bell and to slap the cymbal next to the bell with the shaft of the stick then to crack the bell with the shaft of the stick. I rarely use the tip unless I'm just tapping.
I can't remember what was inside the kick, it was huge like the size of a big can of spray paint. How professional am I? However, there was no front skin on the kick, the mic was shoved right up inside the drum. The batter head was tuned to perfection and it was a Sonor kit that looked about 20 years old.
Thanks again guys and gals, I'm still grinning. |

I got one A custom crash and like it alot. I have an old and I mean old 21" or 22" ride (its a Zildjian). Has to be 40 years old. I have 2 other Zildjian crashes, but its the cheaper ZXT ones. And I have Paiste hihats which I hate. A Paiste China and a little Paiste 9" splash, which I just love. I plan on slowly replacing the cheaper ones when the funds are available. HiHats are the next in line. Cant wait to get them all updated.
Stuff was dusty in the pics from a while back. I do clean stuff |

Bushmaster, I would love that many cymbals to hit. Oh the possibilities of noise!
My crash is the fast crash, slightly smaller by and inch or so. I love the A series, so bright and yet no dodgy ringing and a fast decay.
Dr Zhivago, I have a random tanget of the stoner jamb variety for you.
A quote.
"It's the hope that's important. Big part of belief, hope. Give people Jam(b) today and they'll just sit and eat it. Jam(b) tomorrow, now - that'll keep 'em going for ever."
Terry Pratchett
Another quote.
"We came down here to see this teddible scene: people all pissed out of their minds and vomiting on themselves and all that... and now, you know what? It's us..."
Hunter S. Thompson
//Edit: Dr T is quoting Ralph Steadman. Does that need double "" ? |
