i thought i'd take a minute to post a couple of quick things since i haven't had a chance to be around much the past few days.
i finally got the hardware i was striving for based on your help. the band pitched in to buy some mics (3 sm-57s, and an akg somethingorother), and more are on the way. i've settled on the RME hammerfall 9652 with the AEB4/8-I addon board and given back the tango24 mainly because there seems to actually be a problem with the unit they gave me. this also saves me a bit of cash so in the future, when the budget permits, i can tack on the ADI-8 Pro or whatever may be out then. and at the time of this writing my little mackie 1202vlz is getting ready to be traded in for a larger mixer. either an allen and heath, or another mackie.
with the hardware considerations out of the way for the time being, i've moved on to figuring out nuendo.
the band is blown away to say the least. i've managed to record some crystal clear drum tracks in stereo with a couple of the mics laying around, now i'm shooting for clear sounding guitars. once that's done i'll figure out how to make it sound like we did it in a decent studio .
we also did three simultaneous tracks the other day in the room and they sounded great together.
we'll be working on a webpage for the band soon enough, and if possible i'll put up some tracks. of course we'll appreciate any feedback, tips and tricks.
i couldn't have done it without your help, and although my soundblaster live!(tm) isn't thanking you for it (now that it's out of my pc), the whole band here is.
i can't think of any better praise to all of you helpful individuals than showing off good results, so that's next on the agenda. after that, probably a lot more questions (maybe even in a different forum =)
danke,
cold, ugly, and the band. |

Ah, sweet success!
Now where did that "things you like about RO" thread go? |
