They are so common, seems like it would be tough to maintain the continuity in audio sound and process from all kinds of wild situations :d: .

the definition of 'polishing a turd'. nothing like low budget location sound and bogglingly unoriginal, unentertaining content ... you spend more and more time just staring at your paycheck...IOW it makes mixing a real job.

Reality TV would be great if it were not so "scriped, political, and posied with attitude"
It is so transparently fake, it is the epitome of poor quality.
I would not like to be the poor soul running the muff/poles, in capturing...except, take 43...take 44, Lets see if we can get that tranqulized allegator to open its eyes, take 71, take 72.. (act more bitchy, don't smile) take 104, take 105..we have a cut!....Show some more tit. take 14, take 15, ...we have some dirt to put on your blowse...take 22...
Never mind..this is how it is.
Reality?
No, fantasy..all the while the 15% "walkman lovers" are at it watching and worshiping it.
It is all about them dollars folks.
The selection process is even more political, who you know in the family with nice bicepts, lats, and abs, ass and tits??
OH, I know you, here is 40K, do this, we got you covered..
Pleeeeeezzzeeeee...
Seen the credits, the names? The same 300 production personell feeding off the pigs tit of H wood.
I hand it to them, they are rolling in the money. |

I have done some reality shows and they are tedious when it comes to audio. We have had lots of situations where they used 6 cameras which is such a challenge to boom. We used a arsenal of microphones including wireless and a Sanken broadcast mic. We were also given a very challenging warbdrobe to wire creating situations with a combination of wireless on some, planted mics on others and boom on some other characters if possible. Directors also liked the actors to improv and deviate from the script, creating a headache sometimes for the mixer. We had a pre-fader backup on a DA-88 for Post if we missed something for the Production mix.
I prefer feature work anyday, there are a lot less variables involved. |
