I am trying to find, "looping" VHS tapes, but I don't know where to look, or what they are actually called. I know they exist. I appreciate your help. |

d, you need to ask for an "endless looping video cassette".
Tape Supply Company
I never held one in my hands before, but I have seen them in video display keosk(s) type things at malls before digital.

I wrote to tape.com, and this is what they wrote back. Just good to know I guess.
No such thing is manufactured. VHS tapes cannot be endless loop because of the way that the machine records and plays back the taped media. You basically have one of two choices:
1. Purchase a unit which handles multiple VHS tapes so when tape #1i s finished it will automatically go to tape #2, etc.
2. Program your machine to automatically rewind and begin playing the tape from the beginning. |

D, What exactly do you want to do with a repeating program?

I'm doing an installation at an art show. I am going to have a program consisting of short films on two main sreens, and then I was thinking of having some other TV's with some ambiant video, nothing long, but something I wouldn't have to continuously rewind and play again. I think what I'm going to do is make it loop on the computer and record 6 hours, or whatever I can get on the tape. |

d, If you can burn DVD's on your computer, players are less then $50 at some places. You can set up the DVD player for repeat or loop play.
Just a suggestion,

Rick,
That was actually my first thought. We'll see, I have a couple of months to figure this whole thing out. |

Hey guys,
I have been silently watching this topic over the last week or so and my thought from the begining too was to keep it in the digital domain. What about just looping a quicktime or something of that nature?
Regards,
