A bit of your attention please. I have searched the net looking for audio related boards, which was my main mission since connected. I was looking for any information that would help me make a better production, and meet people, and learn more about recording. In the process, I found beginner boards, mastering boards, pro-sound boards, DAW sites, newsgroups, product user sites, and many others.
Since then I found recording.org, I watched it grow, and lurked from time to time. Then I noticed something special happening here. What was it that set RO apart from many others? The replies to the questions were direct, not speculative, non-evasive, friendly and technically correct and useful. This amazed me, because any question from other sites, were berated by who is right, who is wrong, and 30 or 40 posts with still no clear answer.
Then there were these moderators, here at RO. These moderators were willing to share, which encouraged others to loosen up and respond with qualified, responsible, and polite support on the subjects. RO does this with good humor, cooperation, and even direction to help you be successful in your search for answers.
That brings us to today, what has happened? Chris became fulltime RO, ok like a semi-pro studio taking the business plunge, lots of us have done it, and some are getting ready to. Alright, did we all just jump in and be successful, enough to pay the bills, support our families, and maintain the business, for most I would say, NOPE! It is a rough decision, and to generate income flow is really tough. Of course no one in the course of this transition ever makes mistakes, WRONG! that’s part of getting the experience. Some of you seem to feel this site will be out of here in a short time, because of the institution of a user fee. Maybe some things were handled badly; does that automatically change the great content that you have enjoyed?
There is a spark that ignites any forum, but the fuel to keep it burning, is the testing of the need. Once that specific niche is found, lookout, examples are the success of certain standout RO forums. So what’s it really worth to you? Well, to me, just the right answer to a tough situation would be worth the fee, cause I know I will get it here, one way or another.
I have read things in these posts concerning the business aspects of this Website. I have no business to that information what so ever, why it was posted tells me nothing, except an attempt to belittle, discredit, and embarrass the very person who created RO. I have also seen this information re-posted on other sites. Included with these rants, are the entire membership names, yours might be included.
Go to google.com and search groups, your RO member name + recording.org, you will see who is responsible for that.
Well, I am sure that a fee will lean out some members, not because of the idea of support this way, just for the simple fact that it might not be what they need..YET! That’s OK, and understandable, as for active members who desire a quality board, with exceptional benefits, I have no question as to what your decision will be. I would give Chris 24 bucks just for the benefits I have already received.
What else can be said, except, use your own best judgement, make up your own mind. If you have suggestions for changes, please, let Chris know.

Nah. He's a lurker. He works with video. So do I. We're trained to lurk. We lurk really well. And lurk good too!
As far as what is RO worth to me?. Since Saturday morning - (BTW Australia, where I am, is a day ahead of most of youup here, it is now for instance, as I edit this post 12.50 Sunday night/Monday morning) - I have spent more than eight hours up here.
All of that time I have been working. I charge minimum $30.00 an hour, sometimes $500. Unless it's for friends, or a good cause. So far nobody's slung a nickel my way. What do you figure? |

I am very concerned about an X member named Jay Kahrs. This member, because I turned him down as a moderator has maliciously gone out of his way to discredit me and and our web site, and in doing so he has tied all of us with this slander. He has taken private emails, spun them into a plot and quoted me out of contents, posted them on the usernet copy and pasted the RO members list and then linked all of our members names to this slander for the world to see and find on search engines when they type in recording. What was he thinking! He took every members username and added it to the slandered topic. If you think that's bad it gets worse.

This is what the person should do to remove this.

All information on RO has copyright protection and he has violated our rights here.
Standing by and allowing members to lie and twist things, to allow them to carry on like this in a place of business can effect everything we have ALL worked for as a community. Google has posted this now and damage or not, we have all been violated. Nathan from AtlasPro Audio worked along side with this and he to has directly violated our copy protection rights. I am pissed off now and you should be too. What is wrong with this person.
RO is closed to the public for good reasons. We sign an agreement before we can enter this forum. We are a members only club and can say what we want in here but the information stays here. No member has the right to take our threads, usernames and post them on the usernet for the purposes of promoting hatred and or embarrassment. This was very wrong.

I don't think that "relaxing" would be appropriate here. However, rather than air this in public, I'll be sending you an email, Chris. |

Cum-by-yahhhhhhh my friend, Cum-by-yahhhhhhhhhh....
Love it or hate it, Recording dot Org is the coolest place to spend my "ear breaks" during a mix, except porn sites... Even people that post stuff I disagree with can give me new ideas. |
