Please disregard my ignorance of tube anything. Is there a such thing as having too many tubes in a vocal chain? What I mean is: tube LDC into a tube pre?

... I will add that the cheap tube stuff will probably annoy you after a while. If you can't spend 3-6 grand on a great tube mic, there are many great non-tube mics to consider that will sound fine. Same goes for preamps and compressors. Lastly, maintenance on tube gear is a bitch! Without that, they get very noisey.
FWIW, I recommend NO tubes, unless money is no object. Just my 2 cents...
