    Default Uploading to Myspace.

I'll bet this has been covered before but UTFSF helped me find nothing.

When I upload songs to my Myspace something in the conversion, data compression or a codec or something, does weird things to the recordings. But it's not all the time. Anybody know what's up there? Sample rate or bit rates or something I ought to change? Something I ought to convert to before uploading?

http://myspace.com/stephencope for examples. The first three, I think.

A friend of mine told me its because they convert the audio to flash, whatever that means. I don't like it either. Ever since I discovered soundclick I have enjoyed their sound of superior mp3s.

When using Soundclick, make sure you master your own 128kb 44.1hz Mp3's for uploading. That way they don't squash your stuff. You've already cut them from the highest quality source.

Oh! I bounced to mp3 at 128 kb and they sound great on Myspace now. Thanks Greenman.

    We heard there were greenmen.
Curious button pushing Church sound guy has returned from ... wherever he was.

I'd like to clarify, SoundBlasters will do the job.
But they'll do a bloody awful one.

    http://www.soundclick.com/

Higher quality sound. Real 128kb Mp3s! Not flash.

BTW - Flash is a technology for making interactive web content (among other things).

The audio is probably being crushed into 96kbps mp3 and then included in their flash-based player.

But yes, it is a conversion process that kills it.

@jammster: Yeah, I've got a soundclick, too. Myspace seems to be the standard now, though. I prefer reverbnation above all, though. http://reverbnation.com/stephencope. Besides uploading it to an unsquashing host of course.
