Mic/Shock Mount Setup Hello, I am trying to setup my shock mount (Audio-Technica at8415) with my microphone (audio-technica atr2500). I believe I am doing right, but I am not entirely certain on the matter. The way I think it is supposed to setup, is going to block either one of my volume buttons or the headphone jack. If anyone could give me some assistance on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, that would be a problem. So simply screw the microphone onto the stand without the shock mount. So did AT recommend that shock mount to be used with that microphone? Or did you decide upon that yourself? You've chosen the right device to be used with the wrong device. Or perhaps you've chosen the wrong device to be used with the right device? Either way, what you have chosen is two boys to try and make one baby.

I chose the shock mount myself. I only knew to look for the proper width/strand amount. I will probably just end up getting a different mount. And...are you seriously asking me If I completed high school? (or is that just a signature?)
Well, it's a signature of my personality flaw. You can't just purchase things willy-nilly and expect it all to work properly. Just because a company makes a shock mount doesn't mean all of their microphones are designed for that shock mount. They frequently have some indications as to what microphones that shock mount was primarily designed for. Either you didn't see that, investigate that or bothered to read that. And so the question of completing high school was put to the test. Even if you know the answers, if you provide the wrong answer on your term paper, there is no going back. It's one thing to read advertising literature about a product. It's a whole other thing if you cannot connect the dots in your head. Besides, shock mounts are not always 100% necessary. Is there anything inducing vibration that is causing you obvious audible low-frequency noise? And even with that problem, it is not always practical to utilize shock mounts. That's what high pass filtering does electronically for you. In the live situations of which I have done most of my work, shock mounts (and some of them are quite expensive costing over $100) frequently get broken. Or your $1000 microphone may fall 5 feet onto a hard floor. So what's more important to you? A broken microphone and a good shock mount or, a good microphone and no shock mount, with a filter engaged? Just because they look cool isn't a reason to have one. And if it's on a carpeted floor it's even less necessary. If you're on a hard wood floor with lots of vibration coming up through the floor, consider some foam pads under the microphone stand. Because that shock mount is really only designed to eliminate subway vibration & large air-conditioning compressors kicking in, through the floor.

While I appreciate your information on the matter, your rude comments are neither necessary nor cared for. For the sake of humoring you (assuming you have humor), I passed high school with minimum effort. Since you couldn't seem to comprehend this, I have never purchased these items before and they are new to me. I can't believe that such a disrespectful and condescending person is a "Moderator" of this website. If you are going to direct condescension towards others, at least know that you are intellectually superior.

So.... do you speak to all of your teachers this way? I mean that's pretty cool when you aren't paying any thing for the info...isn't it? You need to blow your nose....or, your speakers. I could recomend some other items as well.
