    Default Mini Mac

I am probably posting this topic in the wrong Forum, but I didnt know where exactly does belong to...

Well, my question is if anyone have heard about the new mac mini, and if you did, what do you think about using it with Pro Tools and an mbox, This is for my home studio, I only record, guitars and bass, everything else I use a Korg Karma or midi, so as you can see I dont need to much, but is that mini thing enough for those procesor demands.... I am going probably upgrade the MINI to 1 GB of ram which is going to make it faster, so I will end up spending around $ 800 tops, for that money I could put a pc together with much faster procesors and hard drives and all the extras... But lately I have been reading that topic about "pc or mac" , so in this case what you all think.

you should be fine, add some memory, as you said and a fast firewire HD for audio !!! (something like maxtor 7200rpm), if you use midi and audio mixed then i don't see a problem even with running tons of plugs, i would go for a mac anytime, speed is not everything!!!!
one of my small setups contains a really old mac g4 466mhz, i run Logic with up to 32 tracks and tons of tons plugs and some really processor hungry synths like the crystal without making him cough... that's to macs... and the damn comp is more than 5 years old!!!! still working, not crashing, so i can concentrate on the important issue... making music.............

the problem I see with the midi mac is that the ram is expensive in the mac store- if you can get it cheaper (a lot!) on ebay, i'd say go fer it. I got a 512 stick on ebay for about $80 for my ibook and it is just fine-

    Default 1.25 or 1.42 GHZ ?

Thx for your peplies... I made uo my mind and I am going to go for the mini mac, Now I have a big dilema, should I get the 1.24 or the 1.42 GHZ? I am going to but 1 GB Of Memory Ram, so how much of a diference would make to buy the 1.25 ghz for 100 $ less? Anyone?
