    Default ProTools cue mix question

    Hi,
I'm new to Pro Tools (currently using PTHD3 7.4) and I have a question about setting up the cue mixes. Is there a way to quicly recreate my control room mix with the sends? So far I'm doing everything manually fader by fader and it takes lots of time. There should be an option so I could just copy my control room mix and then do only minor modifications for the artist (more me thing). In the past I was using Mackie D8B board and on that board it was as easy as pressing the button "copy mix to cue". Please help!

Just open a new bus, put it at unity gain and make sure it's in post, not pre. Create an aux track to route it to your cue system. Then hold the option key and drag it one at a time across the channels. Then close your mix and highlight the session file and goto "get info" in the tool bar. Check stationary pad and you'll then have a template from then on. Note: In 7.4 don't double click on your session template because it will create a copy of the session. Just drag the session file over the Protools icon. It will then open as a template and ask if you want a new session or to edit the current template.
    Hope that helps.

The Pro Tools website has a video demonstration about how to set up a template.

Create an empty session. Create all tracks, faders, sends etc. Save the session and close. Create a new session. GOTO file->Import->session data. browse to your new "template" session select all the tracks and to "copy source" not link and hit OK.

    It really speeds things up

If I'm understanding you correctly...select all the tracks you are sending (ie: all your drum tracks, etc.) and then you can just hit Option+Apple (command) 'H' and a little box should show up, giving you options on what you want to copy to your sends and which sends you want to copy to. I hope this works for ya...or is even what you're looking for. If it's not...sorry!
