    Hello guys its me again

Alrite can anyone tell me what kind of room (big, small) they think that this guy is singing in to get this kind of vocal sound? Here's the link

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VBex8zbDRs

I want to know if he is singing in a room that has some echo in it, a little echo, or none at all...because i'm trying to figure out which room i should record in so that I won't seem like i'm singing in a box when i listen to myself in the mix

I want the vocals to be bright, clear and upfront like the vocals are in the link
    Any tips?
Thanks again guys in advance...I love posting on this website because it seems like u guys know :EVERYTHING"

Vocals are the same as recording drums or any acoustic instrument. They sound dull when the sound Waves don't have stuff to bounce off of and mature as they travel around the room. Larger rooms can lend a lot to vocal recording, room treatment is generally advised.

Recording in a closet or something of the nature is not a good idea unless you are recording for voice over because the result will be dull and won't have much harmonic character. i.e. It will sound boxy. Think of recording in a large treated room like controlling the sound Waves whereas recording in a small room/box is eliminating the sound Waves.

In all likelihood, Mayer tracked in a decent sized tracking room with gobo's around him.

You ain't that far from me, alston... keep an eye on our build thread. We should be opening soon (as relative as that is....) and hopefully our main room will be what your looking for.
