    Hey guys,

I am wondering, does anyone know what mics were used with Vince Neil when recording any of Motley's records in the 80s?

A singer I am recording has a voice that is similar to Vince's.

I understand your desire to seek this out. It will be hard to find this information unless theres a specific site where the engineer/producer is reminiscing about those sessions. You could find the studio name in the album credits and go to their site if they're still in business and look at their gear list. Its probably not going to tell you anything as they probably have a bunch of mics...

For that kind of voice, I would want to start with a dynamic such as a Shure SM7. If the singer has a lot of control and good mic technique then I'd also try a nice condenser. A Neumann U-something or other usually works for anything .
