2 types of compressors for mastering ?

Hi guys. I read a while back about you guys using two compressors when mastering. A "colored" comp to add some flavor to the mix and then a Clean compressor to level everything out. Im just curiouse which compressors do you consider right for this type of jobs. Mention some brands and in what category would they fall ??

-Mastering mainly heavy rock music.
-forget about budget

It's definitely "sometimes" but it happens.

The "colored" category can be pretty wide - Manley VariMu, Gyraf Gyratec X, SPL Qure...

Actually, when it comes down to it, almost any compressor you want can sound "colored" if that's what you're looking for.

Compressors with more transparency might inlcude the Crane Song STC-8, Massenburg, etc.

Let's not forget the CraneSong Trakker. Bob Katz just got two of them(they're mono units} for more 'edgy, colored' masters.

EAR 660's and NTP 179-120's.

I don't really have a dirty or clean, they just work differently and I choose them for how they handle program over color.
