Can Someone Tell Me What Is Needed for This Clip?

What would you do to my clip to make it fit in as closely as possible, with the *original*
soundtrack? Are there engineers that can perform the seemingly impossible with just about anything with modern tools at their disposal?

I worked really hard to get my clip to sound as authentic as possible but, for one, I may have pushed it into the "red" just a tad.

Just in case there's anyone here that would like to take a shot at this, the clip on Soundcloud is downloadable.

Oh yeah, this clip is a job proposal for someone on YouTube.

Scorewise, the only thing I see missing might be that the timp parts sound like they're rolling where as yours sound like single hits.
Soundwise, can you get better distinction between the brass and strings?
Mixwise, The original horns are a little thinner. Yours are fatter. The original is a little more distant. Your's is a little too much in your face.
So keep working on the eq, and place your whole 'orchestra' in a bigger hall.

I'm gonna break out the original soundtrack to this and take a closer listen and also take your suggestions to heart.

Timp? No problem, I'll correct it.

On the pan scale, brass is panned to dead center but I guess I need to spread it out. The low strings are panned 084 while the high strings are 044.

I was afraid of the horns sounding TOO thin so I'll go back and try it with a single brass patch instead of brass+trumpet.

I *wish* I had an EQ but, for the most part, I'm glad I don't.

I can handle the HALL though!

For the record, I recorded this as an MP3, so, it could have been worse!

Mea culpa. Of course back then the musicians swapped orchestras so frequently its hard to keep track without a dance card! :-)

I know who the pricipal horn was if that counts....

Part of the problem is just how you're trying to emulate it.

Create your orchestral sections. The violins never sounded the way you created them. You'll need one orchestra section on the left, one on the right. It's not straight up down center nothing. You can't just press the violin button & get violins. When you sweeten the violins up, Only relying upon first & second violins, for that airry sound you'll have to take some of that honking midrange out, also. Then, they'll sound sweeter making more space for beautiful light but discernible timpani hit. I mean, not to be cruel, I don't think your version even sounds close? It's down right brash. You don't want to hit people over the head. You want to make a point. I used to have to teach people how to play their string synthesizers, when they first came out, in the late 1970s. People would play them like piano's. They sounded like a bunch of ducks quacking & geese honking. That's not how a string section plays or is recorded. Legato not Let's Get Go.

The French Horn's were even stopped up not stomped out. You need to create great finesse For the sound of great brute force. Or is that the other way around?
