Ugh. I love spending money. I went to the local Long and McQuade to look at interfaces. There were several deals, the economy being the way it is. There was an Nuendo/RME Multiface/PCI combo that was selling for $400.00, two Tascam Firwire 1804s for $300 each.
I don't know anything about the FW1804 but it's Tascam. I'm not a huge fan. The thing that drew my attention was that the design is by Frontier Designs. That name does have a good reputation. Unfortunately nobody there knew anything

I'm sick of it. Really! Why do people ask for advice and then do everything in their power to avoid it? If you want to go spend your money on that Bumstinger mixer, go right ahead. Why are you asking for someone else's approval?
You have to appreciate the time people take to gather information for you. Some of which you could probably google yourself. For that matter, a little reading goes a long way. And, the fact is I learn something new here every day. There is so much information

I will be honest, my gear is crap. I mean garbage. I record in an untreated room with odd noises in the background. The furnace is noisy. There's a clock ticking in the background. It's a horrible mess.
I don't have a single mic that I'm proud of. Sure I've used some expensive mics but none of them were my own. It's been years since I've spent time in a decent studio. I've been in lots of budget studios and one or two really nice project studios but nothing in the realm of a multimillion

Honestly, I'm not even sure I know what a blog is. For better or worse, I'm just taking the opportunity to unload my mind somewhere. So here it goes. It's my opinion so take it all with a grain of salt.
