This one is touchy because if you sell direct to the public at less than the retail price you piss the retailers off.
This can mean they wont carry your products and then you lose out on the free advertising sales people do.
However, sometimes you want to buy a specific product that has no retail significance, like a super high end version of something, and is only carried by one or two retailers in the biggest cities... Basically, if the retail store has to order it in, why shouldn't you just order it from the manufacturer directly?
Well...
Manufacturers would have to have an adequate sales team to deal with customers, which have different needs (read shorter attention span) than retailers.
Sales reps wouldn't cut it.
Doesn't it come down to fair trading agreements and such?

If I could point something out.
If anyone could sell anything direct to anyone, globally. So if all trade barriers were truly taken down.
RO would stand to make a fortune.
I want whomever pays for and owns RO to make a fortune, because through these forums I have had access to countless nuggets of info and been given an opportunity to express myself (talk to) at a specific niche of professionals I enjoy winding up.
Anyone else feel like this?
