Bigtree… don’t feel bad about your response rate. Whenever I do a survey, I find I have to include some sort of incentive to get people to respond. (ie a short report on 10 tips for this or that). I didn’t respond either… oops I wasn’t supposed to mention that ;-)
Similarly, your response for the actual contest will be much better if you put something semi-tangible at the end of the rainbow. For instance, email the guys at Taxi. Ask them if they would be willing to judge entries (why not take some work off your hands). You can set up a separate heading in the forum and offer them free banner advertising. As a trade off, they will nominate winners and offer a prize (representation or maybe a year membership). They advertise the contest (and your site) on their homepage and you do the same. Hard to beat a win-win scenario. That’s just a starting point. Email me… I’d be glad to help.
