I like among thousands of us are looking for ways to be heard. Is there something we can do on RO that might help direct a "talent searcher" ie: publishers, record companies, managers, recording acts looking for new material, music scouts etc. find us?

I have songs that I wish someone could hear. Is there something I can do to help open doors?

Could we set up a page called:

"Songs ready for publishing"
"Looking for a publisher"
"Unsigned Artists"

or maybe a publishers page like:

"Looking for songs to publish"
"We need Dance music"

Any suggestions?

Great idea. Perhaps we could have a format where once a month, submitted songs were voted on by the members of the board, and the winner then sent to various Record companies as having been voted the outstanding new work by professional engineers of RO. It would make the work stand out enough to get a listen to have "WON recognition by anyone, much less professionals. Secondly, you could break it down into categories Rock, Country, Jazz, Classical, etc then have a yearly winner, and that might lead to a single HIT, which would then bring further Clout for the Award, and you might just get some regular group of executives who'd appreciate the input, instead of the usual go to clubs routine, and if they turn out wrong, hey.. pro's recommended it, so his ass is somewhat covered. People love other people to do their work for them. Paul Larisey

This is a good idea. It would be a great way to introduce new music to the people who can make it public, but only if you can stand to listen to all the crap thats gonna get mailed in! Still, its a great experiment. Try it for free, and when the submissions are too much, charge $$ and that will drop the number of frivolous submissions (or is that only poor frivolous people?). I'd love to hear some of the locals evaluate not only the music, but also the mix...

Yeeeeeeesssssss, boy do I like the sound of this, Im surprised nobody thought of it sooner....I'm sure everybody would give their full support to a great idea like this...
also for novices, a guide to how to get their music uploaded onto MP3, real player, etc would be
useful too.

One of the best forum ideas I've seen. I would be willing to shell out some cash for the cause. Probably wouldn't hurt to throw it on some other forums i.e. Musicplayer, Motu-Mac etc. I would bet you would see more activity over here.
