Just wondered what sorta hours other people work in their studio jobs, whether it be engineering, producing, editing or whatever?

Do you dictate what hours you work, or is it more down the client and gauging how their creativity and enthusiasm is going. ?

How do you deal with those long long sessions - making sure you keep yourself mentally awake?

How much compression is happening with pop music?

I hear so many different guys replies regarding the amount they put on to "use little as possible" to "lay it on".

I've read that it's put on heavy 3 times throughout the mix. Can someone here shed some light on the subject.

been heavily thinking, so I put the Distressor on my future list .
In fact what i need now is a mastering tool, definitely before the end of the year .

Been playin w/my little Martin D-1 trying to get that GREAT guitar sound (to record into a gtr/vox mix).
Been playin with Sure SM81's, 414's, Oktava 012's. Tryin a few different pre/Eq's, and then into Distressors. (also have an AKG SolidTube, Blueberry, and a Lawson L47MP on the way)

Just wondering what new keys are out there. Using the nord lead, M1, Orbit, Planet, emulator, akai and now the virus TDM (awesome!).

Is the Digi 001 good enough to produce commercial sounding recordings?

Can you get the sound radio ready using just the Digi 001 or is it basically just for making demos?

Sure is allot of talk about Pro Tools. I read about Soundscape now and Digital Performer on chats

Why should I buy the Pro Tools.

I have an old computer apple so I will buy a new one as well.
