Default CD recorder - balanced vs unbalanced input?

    Hi,

I'm looking at the Tascam RW-750 and the HHB CDR-830 for recording a send from my mixer - both units have unbalanced RCA inputs. The recorder will sit right next to the mixer so the cable run will only be short. I was wondering if it is worth spending the extra money to get a unit with balanced inputs...

    Any comments/advice would be appreciated.

    Ian.

I did a Google search for - HHB CDR-830 - Two units came up(At the Zzounds site). I didn't look closely at either, but it appears there are two models - the more costly has balanced XLR and some sort of digital input. As the price difference is only about $80 US($520/$600), cost is no obstacle.

If there are no other concerns, "Go Pro"!

You may, at some point, regret not doing so, but will never regret spending the slight extra to stay balanced(It's just better.)...

Never turn your back on balanced I/O gear. I feel the same way about AES/EBU vs SPDIF. If you ever anticipate long cable runs, you will thank yourself when you need to use them.
