    Default Frequency Analysis??

Since I learned that every instrument has its fundamental and harmonic place in the frequency spectrum my mixes are much CLEANER and each sound has its own little spot that it sits. The end result? I can hear everything no matter which system I playback on.

Now I would like to understand how to apply this knowledge to using the FREQUENCY ANALYSIS tool (in anything). Could someone explain other then what HELP would do in an application?

How do you use it in real world applications? Could you study a PRO MIX from a MAJOR STUDIO RELEASE, then compare a similar mix of your own to it, then from here discover where things sit in order to get THAT SOUND???

Also could someone recommend a solid book or site for learning things such as this?
    Thanks guys!!!!

    Hello freaksarise!

Forget the book and forget the application of what you hear to the readout...for 2 reasons...

First of all, the readout is a tool for dynamics only, not frequency correction. Look at how the spectrum appears toward dynamic content and make sure that when your chourus' hit..your bass is not left out...Use the readout for dynamic frequency cohenrence, not for just looking at the curve of the mix.

Second, It is for frequency analysis..and best used for calibration before the mix begins. Extrapolation during the mix for dynamic inconsistancies is the best way to use the instrument wisely.

    Cool?

You hear so much more with your ears than with the bouncing bar graph. You could have a horribly eqed mix that looks just like a Steely Dan record on the spec analyzer.

Sorry, no magic bullet this time keemo sabe.

    peace, the dog.
