Default Dynaudio BM 5a Sufficient power for 18 x 13 room?

    Hi All,

Is 50W output enough power for a room of that size (18 x 13) with relatively high ceiling... Appreciate any comments/advice. Thanks.

Speakers of such size and power are not meant to fill a room(Maybe a small bathroom?), only to fill your ears from a couple of feet away, which they'll do in any size room(Read-up on "nearfield" monitors.).

TeddyG, thanks for the reply...But I've done my homework and did a lot of read-up on monitors, different types and brands. I do not have the intention of listening to my mixes from the other end of the room, however I do understand certain rooms with certain dimensions can eat up your bass, cause reflections problems, etc. and possibly affect what you hear even 5-6 feet away from the speakers (correct me if I’m wrong)...

The BM 5A has somewhat low output compared to its BM 6A sister, and there must be certain applications where the 6A is a better pick, bearing in mind that the difference in sound quality between them is minor and I assume people would go for the latter bcoz of its better output... So using this example, in terms of output power, should I pick the BM6A for the extra power to suit my room's dimensions or would I get the same results with the BM5A? I'm on a tight budget and would go for the cheaper alternative.

    Thanks,
    Cosmo
