awesome!
Sorry, (I had to leave he studio for an hour) and I am now back.
it shouldn't be edited after Jan 30. Honesty!!!
I'm seeing edited (updated) on the blogs. I'm not going to disqualify people from this point on (although, don't edit them until this is over). It sets you up for questioning.
I read everyones blog and listened to their songs Jan 31 (The following day of cutoff). I have a very good memory for what the songs sounded like and the blogs overall. I chose the final 4 (then and there) and left room for 2 others, which we all understand why at this point ,yes?
So,
I am the worst writer and understand how typo's happen. I already made a note on each blog that day (that you can all read at the end of this contest in quotes on each contestants submission ) so its a done deal there. Although, our panel will read them shortly for the first time, I'm assuming, will not matter. They will have my influence but ultimately make their own choice.
I think we have all heard the songs and if someone changed their song to win, it would have to be pretty significant as well. Its not about quality so remixing it 10 times isn't going to matter.
The songs are going to be public so dishonesty will not serve them well if they changed it.
The panel is making the final choice. The winner will be chosen based on what we think. Not public votes.
All the songs will be put into a thread for everyone to enjoy for as long as you all keep them public. I hope you all made an effort to do this. A lot of people will hear them over the year(s). Especially the top pics!

Lambchop, you have to hit the 'like' button on my entry thread at the front of this in order to get your vote to count.
Thanks

ohman... they're both good, if you're into country. my vote is with John, but both did a really nice job :D
I'm so glad I'm not hurting for any microphone preamps.
Everybody's song is good! I think everyone should win? No? Only one lucky guy. This is going to be tough.
I never joined a beauty pageant either for obvious reasons.

Really fun and such great songs.
While we wait for the results...
Whats the best thing you all got out of this? Will you be angry if you don't win this? Did you all have fun?
1. Best thing- I just happened to be coming around again after a good 7 month gap (on a cd project) just as the contest was announced. I will say that this contest pulled me right back into the community daily. It has made me appreciate just how special and unique this place is. I mean, there really isn't anything close to this online, it is a real community. And the new layout and functionality of the site make it even better, the interaction is now so organic. I actually walk my dog at night and think to myself all sorts of dreamy things like having a RO weekend recording convention that rotates locations each year, or some big huge internet project where we all take part and create something wonderful...
2. Will I be angry if I don't win? Honestly- If I had answered that question last month, at the beginning of this thing, I might have, deep down admitted yes. Well, angry is not the right word- but probably a little pissed and very dissapointed. But with the way Tree had this contest going with the voting and the likes and the round 1, round2, round 3 (and then head to davedog vs JohnTodd), and all the comments, and then making it last longer than I think we all might have anticipated- something kind of nice happened. We transformed from a bunch of strangers (mostly) each aiming to win this great prize, into a bunch of guys (and girls) rooting for each other and offering encouragement and all sorts of positive things. I mean- we all love music because it makes us better, and we who do music love it because it makes other people better. This contest was like watching through a window at that process as it unfolded. And this is really the best thing, period.
Of course I will be dissapointed if I don't win (i am human, and I could surely use it). But by the way it all went down, it would sting much much less.
Right on Big tree. Right on everyone. Right on.
:-)
