The ultimate give-a-way , A complete Recording Computer set-up and
2 great mics . That would be a great contest !
Hi Bigtree. How have you been. Me? Getting better and better. Finally got re-acquainted with Pro Tools.
To answer your question. A Roland Loop Station is a pedal that allows you to create loops on the fly. Think guitar pedals only this is like a super delay pedal with several delays and tempo. Loops can also be stored, dumped, re-loaded etc. Search Youtube for some really great videos of people performing live to loops they are creating on the fly. Note he uses two mics. One is plugged into the loop station for recording a vocal part and the other is strictly for live singing. Not sure why he does it that way but it could be for ease of staying "Punched In".
This is what it looks like along with other information on Rolands product page, Here

Wow! those last 2 prizes were awesome!!!![]()
A mix contest sounds like the next party. We'll need a song. If you have quality tracks to donate for this, and permission of course, I would love to hear from you. It will be a great way to get your song mixed.
PM me please.
Cheers!
Sounds like fun!
I recall having some tracks I backed up for someone and asking them if they could be used just for this purpose. I will check and see what's there. Another option would be to return to previous contests and maybe use one of those tracks. Didn't Remy say she had some tracks?
tunes, both great idea's.
Remy?
I have a mic company considering some tracks, and offering their mics as a prize.
Please keep this thread going and sharing idea's. We'll get a good contest going when it hits the mark.
Yes, I'm still here. Been trying to get this documentary film finished since November 2011. UGH! This is the first documentary I've ever worked on. In the past couple of months while working on this film/video, new requests came in from the distributor who just landed a contract with Discovery Networks. As a result, I had to go back and start from scratch! This is going to drive me to drinking and driving a hot rod Lincoln. Actually there won't be enough money to purchase a Lincoln, LOL. And since my truck has tanked, I've got to start working on other stuff. Sheesh? But what? Audio/video, recording music and commercials is all I do. It's all I've ever done. And while all of us are wasting away being replaced by bad automation so that everybody can make recordings now, not knowing or understanding anything about what they are doing, what's the point in all of this? I don't do computer music. It's cool and all that but that's not me. It wasn't too many years ago that most musicians didn't want to be engineers. And while they might be good musicians, that doesn't necessarily mean that they are good engineers. So what's a girl to do?
Will work for s e x for recordings.

Wow! It's hard to believe it's been almost a year since our last contest. Mics would be a fun prize. My chops are a little better now then they were when I first attempted to mix. Part of that being that I finally got caught up with Pro Tools. I am still a long way from my 10,000 hours to mastery though. :-/
@bigtree I did check with my friend about mixing the stems. I still haven't been able to check what I have so if I do have some stems we can probably put those in the batch for consideration. Any other tracks around that would be worthy of a mix contest?
I also have some demo spots for commercials which might be useable for a contest. :30s and :60s. Just a few though. This would keep the content length to a minimum. They are all demos that were submitted but didn't get picked for random things. I would like to use them for my songwriting reel so maybe I can use any nice mixes for my reel if we use one of those?
