Lightbulb "Piano Rock" - Critique mix (CD quality)

Don't really know what I would call the genre but this song is supposed to be kind of "big" and "epic."

So please let me know what you think about my mix! Thanks in advance.

Give me all the constructive criticism you can, I'm always wanting to improve my mixing knowledge and my ears.

p.s. I know the performances aren't the very best but it's not too sloppy.

    Old mix (stream)!

Edit: I uploaded the new mix. It's not as loud as the old one, didn't wanna squash it.
    New mix (stream)!

Sounds Great man, nothing to add to the mix or performance. The one thing that comes is the super loud song... you know, i also like to make my song very loud, it makes the sensation that they sound better, but when you hear a complete album with that loudness my head starts to hurt.

Wait... the last part of the song with the piano panned, the piano sound is clipping, i hear my speakers get distorted. That's too bad cause you will have to re track it... At least it's the final part, starts when the singer sings the "Uuuhs".

Very good job with the rest!!!

Thanks for the feedback. Funny story the piano at the end is actually distorting because I put too much tape saturation on it. I remixed the song since that mix and it sounds way better. I'll upload it in a little while.

    Not too shabby at all.
I would like to hear everything except the vocal taken down about 3db. ( I would say raise the voc, but I don't think you have any room for that.)
After listening to the song, I really couldn't tell you what the name of the song is, or what it's about, so we need the vocal a little more out front.
(at least, that's how it sounds on my system)

natural you're right the vocals are low in the mix. i kind of did that on purpose but I'm gonna post a new mix tomorrow or something.

i'm finding that center acoustic guitar possibly slightly off time (maybe) and distracting with how 'clicky' it is, vocals definitely too low. in this type of music the vocals are definitely the focus.

but i agree, cut everything by like 3 and then post again, it sounds great i think

Thanks for the input! The vocals are actually being re recorded today they were scratch vocals in that mix. So once that is tracked I'll post the new mix. The music is already re mixed it sounds a lot less muddy with more definition!

I agree with sarNz. The acoustic is distractingly "clicky". Was it recorded direct, or mic'd?
    I'm never gonna dance again!

lol definitely not DI. miced with 2 close mics and 2 room mics in a treated room. the highs are just boosted too much. it's also a pretty twangy guitar. i really need to get that other mix posted it's completely different and more thorough. just waiting on the new vocal tracks to get back.
