    Default Searching For co-writer(s)

This may not be the optimal forum for this request, if there is a website/forum that is more geared to my question please advise and accept my sincerest apology.

I write a lot, mostly guitar and piano type stuff, sort of a blend of very diverse styles. I like music with strong melodies, interesting vocal arrangements, and a lot of emotion, but also like rhythmic songs that have kick to them (or all of the above). Not sure I sound like anyone in particular but I am influenced by Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Peter Gabriel, Thomas Newman (writes soundtracks for movies), and the Shins (how's that for a mess). Looking for someone that shares my love of strong melodies and fascinating rhythms.

Over the years I have amassed a lot of snippets that I don't presently use. I have worked with co writers in the past and it has been a lot more interesting, and rewarding. Consequently I am seeking someone that may be interested in an online writing collaboration. Could be a one time shot, a train wreck, or a wonderful experience, but if if it works, obviously the hope would be for it to be ongoing.

I use pro Tools 8 to record with

I'm totally down to at least try something. My only concern would be our plugins not quite matching up. I have pro tools LE 8, (Soon switching to pro tools m-powered 8 when I buy a fast track ultra 8r) so that wouldn't be any problem. My e-mail address is nuclearrabbit17 at yahoo dot com if you'd like to maybe send me something you've done, maybe what key it's in, or what notes are in the scale to make it a little easier for me, and we can try something out. Like you said, maybe a trainwreck, but worth a shot, and I think it could be interesting and fun!

My influences are as well incredibly wide everywhere from metal (russian circles, rage against the machine), to alternative (Muse, interpol) to solo musicians (Jean baudin), to electronic music (Royksop, moby), to folk (The nightwatchman). My main instrument is bass guitar (although I play it more like a guitar or a piano), but I also play a little upright bass, acoustic guitar, and piano. I am also an avid music programmer, and have made several rap beats for a friend of mine, as well as dancey tracks. I'm a bit all over the map. So if I've intrigued you at all, shoot me an e-mail, and we can work out a sample project to get started on. If you do vocals, I've been looking for somebody to lay down some vocals to some of my tracks I've done (My girlfriend is actually a very good singer, but I've always had trouble with writing lyrics and melodies for her.) Or if you think this sounds atrocious, then that's fine too. Anybody else want to join in the fun?
