I'm making a few panels, any sources for decent open weave fabric without spending "Guilford money?" Somewhere between burlap and Guilford $$ is where I'm looking. Thanks!

How about Burlap, dyed and then fire treated with the stuff Rod expounds upon?

I found some fairly decent fabric at MalWart for $1 a yard. If you can easily blow through it, it's cool. Of course, it's polyester, so it will need fire treatment.

Almost any soft fabric is fine. There are lots of fabric stores in every town.

Certainly there is! The problem I'm having is finding a material with a width exceeding 48" that is an open weave. Burlap is usually 48" at best. My panels are constructed of Manville 2" R-300 Duct board which has good absorbtion coefficients. I need at least 54" goods. I'm using the 4 X sheets as it saves all kinds of cutting on the panels. Thanks for all your help!

I'm using unbleached muslin (cotton) for my stuff. Wonderfully cheap cotton, readily available. Folks use it for test cutting/patterns etc. before they use the expensive fabrics - so every fabric store has it.

I used muslin also. You can get it as wide as 96". CHEAP!!!!!!!!!!!

Most all upholstery material is at least 52' wide.
