That'd be my guess as well.
I finally got some mineral wool with a equavelent density as OC-705. I was planning to wrap them with some fabric but was wondering how it would influence the performance if I would use a heavier type of fabric which isn't as acoustically transparant.
My guess would be that it would increase the performance of the lower frequencies at the costs of higher frequency performance.
Anyone has some info on this?

I don't think it makes much difference at any frequency. The only types of fabric to avoid are shiny materials like silk and its synthetic equivalents. Those do reflect high frequencies. But any other soft fabric should be fine. It may absorb a little more on its own, but it won't reflect or change the basic absorption of the fiberglass.
