Hi Eric, my comment was not aimed at you, nor at anyone in specific, just an observation. It's just human nature, people are comfortable with what they know. i'm sure i'm no different.Originally Posted by eric_desart

For the compliments you've paid me, i'm always grateful, Eric, and i've paid you many as well. For whatever mentions of Green, i'm also grateful. you have also been my biggest antagonist at times, Eric, no? which is all fine and good. you are very fond of implying that whatever comments i make are masked commercial ones with your frequency comments along the lines of "But please, Green Glue is your live and related with your interest in TL". and it sure seems that in those times i frequent studiotips, arguments aren't hard to come by.
i mean 0.000% ill with any of that
i beg a pardon if i am wrong, but i think you asked on studiptios once where i got this information of incorporating other factors into MSM predictions, and noted that standard is air spring. again, beg a pardon if i'm mistaken, perhaps i can find time to search for the link. And that MSM knows other influences too than just mass-air-mass I know too.
Why do you think this inclining least square straight line fitting is integrated in my Excel file you know which can be forced through the theoretical MSM and set free to follow the statistical fitting?
This file is on the net before I heard of your existance and before NRC/IRC data was mentioned/known anywhere in groups.
So don't tell how others handle data.
that's great! i've not seen those threasd, or much of the now-demised forum. That RC did influence MSM and was typically designed in function of STC I told in the former disappeared acoustics group already, and clearly stated that we had not enough data (NRC/IRC docs existed already but not on the net, at a certain moment in time IRC decided to release those already existing IR = Internal Reports to the public, at least nobody knew from their existance) to draw whatever final conclusion. RSIC I did not exist back then, or at least was nowhere referred to.
1000x politely, Eric, and i mean that. but i guess that is the one thing that i don't see eye to eye with you on. To me (and i'm often wrong) you seem a bit prone to absolutes, andYou rarely will hear me talk in absolutes or I must be really sure, supported by proof.
my life isn't Green Glue, Eric, although you are certainly fond, as i noted above, of stating such. You were indeed lucky at the moment you started that relative recent before that probably the best studies thinkable from NRC/IRC came available on the net.
And your live since arround then IS Green Glue and drywalls.
And I'm very aware of your intelligence and capabilities, which I also publically stated often.
i offered above to explain what i know about the impact of damping (energy dissipation) on the TL of walls. perhaps i wouldn't be immodest to say that few should find themselves in a better position to give that explanation.
and i looked briefly for a quote i remember (if i'm wrong, i'll apologize publicly) where you noted that coincidence dips are what can be damped, the exact quote i can't find, but some threads popped up
http://forum.studiotips.com/viewtopi...dence&start=20
http://forum.studiotips.com/viewtopi...ht=coincidence
http://forum.studiotips.com/viewtopi...ht=coincidence
for what it's worth, my good fellow, and i 1877% don't want to bicker, you did note that you didn't think much low frequency change could be had with damping.
those threads aren't short of blanket statements, and i guess whatever frustration i may have poorly and in bad taste shown earlier in this thread just stems from that. lots of bold statements about damping, nobody ever really asked me (until this thread) about it. i do apologize again if i seemed irked earlier in this thread, you fellows deserve better, i've little doubt.
