Recording Bass Guitar (tips?) / using Line 6 Effects Process

Im new to recording. I am looking to record bass, guitar, and drums in a few days, but i have never recorded bass. How would I get the best quality. I have my hands on a borrowed line 6 bass effects processor. Should I just direct input to the board, then bus to the effects processor, or would it make sense to use a large diaphragm condenser mic on the amp also?

Recording Bass Guitar Straight To Recorder or Miced?

Forums

Hello,
I am very new at recording music. I own a Zoom MRS 802B recorder. When I record the bass I plug straight into the machine. The sound is very muddy and far from pure. I was wondering if it is better to mic the amp and record that way. If anyone has suggestions please let me know.

Take it easy on me, remember I am new at this. Thanks

Bass guitar dull (and a few more ?'s)

I just got finished tracking a rock band. I recorded the bass guitar straight into a direct inject pre on my Firepod, into my computer. compared to other bassists i have recorded, his sound was really dull. i know his guitar wasn't top of the line, and his playing lacked some technique. I dont play any string instruments, so i couldnt really suggest anything to help him.

Buying a 2nd hand Musicman Stingray 5

Our bass player is looking for a 2nd hand Musicman Stingray 5. There are a few for sale just above € 1.000,00.

Besides the usual check on electronics, frets, neck, sound, paint etc. is there anything in particular about this bass when it is used? I mean, does it have a reputation for certain bad things?

All help is wellcome.
