good Tablet to control DAW
Forums
Hi, Im seriously thinking of buying a tablet & running Cubase 5 with windows XP.
Im using a Phonic firewire mixer as an audio interface.
I want to use XP so my old plugins will work & also my mixer only has XP drivers.
Does anyone have any experiences with running a DAW on a Tablet computer and what are some issues I should look out for?

DAW emi with other rack gear
Forums
Wondering if I put my EMU E6400 sampler or a Yamaha MG 16 mixer on slider drawer in the same rack as the DAW ( PC on bottom Emu/ mixer a couple of spaces above it )
Would there would be any noise, hum etc picked up by either ?
I am running out of rack space trying to keep things within arms reach.

User Friendly DAW
Forums
I'm helping a piano/violin teacher set up a recording system. Her technical skills are somewhat limited, so I wanted to get some input about what DAW I should set her up with. She needs basic audio features, and I would like to set her up with some nicer MIDI features. Most of her recording will be MIDI. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Setting up a talk back in a DAW environment
Forums
I was just wondering how everyone goes about Talk back in thier systems?
What signal chain, hardware and config you use.
Is it common to run a GEQ pre the headphone amp to EQ vox for the singer's comfort?

New DAW. Anything I should be worried about?
Forums
I'm looking at a Dell Studio XPS 7100, Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit, AMD Phenom II X61045T Processor, ATI Raedon HD 5450 1GB Video Card, 6GB DDR3 RAM, and a 1 TB 7200RPM HD with a 16MB Cache. I plan on putting an M-Audio 1010LT in it. For software I'll be using Pro Tools (M-Powered) and Reaper.

The RMS216 FOLCROM Passive Summing Device is definitely one way to go.

Ignorant to the World of DAW (sorta)

Hi guys. In the very near future I'm gonna finally break the chain and get a Digital Audio Workstation. (yay) Its all going to be on a shoelace beginning which is fine since I'm going to have to school myself in this platform. Which ever its going to be.

With all of today's technology why haven't DAW software developers come up with...

a single stage recording system. I mean at it's most fundamental level, two stage recording (mix then master) contains one stage more than one might naively believe is necessary.
