DC Offset

An imbalance that can sometimes occur at an A/D converter, where DC (direct current) which is basically a constant voltage, is introduced into the digitized signal. Apart from reducing headroom, DC content can introduce clicks and pops while the audio is being edited.

A run on sentence(question?) about DC offset

Forums

So I am assuming that DC offset occurs due to processing errors. Like I am thinking now to render each separate track and try to pinpoint which tracks contribute most to the offset. I am wondering if processing a track through, like say, soundforge or wavelab is a good idea, as to remove DC offset of an individual wave file.

High Pass filter causing DC Offsett...see waveforms.

I have a Mackie Onyx 1620 and a Shure SM7B on channel 5. The board has a Low-Cut Switch on the channel. When it is engaged it causes DC Offset. Take a look:

Should this be expected? The graphed scale at the left represents the Amplitude ruler in my waveform Editor.

DC offset

In trying to get a handle on DC offset, I seem to be coming up with more questions than answers.

I have found that the Audiosuite DC offset plugin in Pro Tools seems to do nothing to center the waveform. It offers no control over any parameters, and once a track/waveform/file has been processed, the DC offset remains. Am I missing something obvious here?
