Brauner Phanthera V level Problems. Help!

Lately I've noticed that I have to use quite a lot of gain on my mic preamps to get a good level out of my Phanthera V.

I decided to use a 1 kHz sine wave to test the Phanthera against my AKG C414.

According to specs the Brauner has a higher sensitivity than the C414:

Brauner 33 mV/ Pa Cardiod

C414 20 mV/Pa (-34 dBV) +/-0.5 dB

Setting Levels Correctly, Recording & Mixing?

Hey everyone,
So this might seem a bit stupid, but I feel like I don't know as much as I should know about setting levels.
For reference, I am using a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP, with Logic 9, on a quad core 15" Macbook Pro. And my monitors are Yamaha HS5.
Let's start out with recording levels:

Instrument to line level loop

Hello,

I'm looking for something to convert instrument level to line level, and back to instrument level so i can insert my line level rack effects onto live instruments. Ive looked at the morley effects loop but it doesn't say if it goes from instrument to line (+4). Ive contacted them a week ago but yet to hear back.

any other suggestions out there?

Sounds like it's clipping but all level meters show otherwise. help!

I'm attempting a very simple master with just some EQ, compression and limiting but I've run into a slight problem. Every time I add my limiter to get my track to a good volume, it pops and crackles like the track is clipping. I have a sound metering plugin after each plugin as well as the one on the track itself and nothing is indicating any kind of clipping.

Best Mic Preamp/Guitar Amp Levels?

Forums

Hi, just wondering what difference it makes where and when levels are turned up and down int he recording chain. Is it best to turn a guitar amp up a ton, and then turn the track down in my DAW, or to have the amp lower, and turn the volume up more in the DAW. And for Micing vocals, is it best to turn the microphone preamp way up, and then the track level down in the DAW, or vice versa?
