Best portable recorder for violin/string quartet?
Forums
I am a professional violinist, looking for advice on a portable digital recorder to use in daily practice and recording of rehearsals. I want something small enough to always have it in my fiddle case, yet deliver sound quality good enought from the build in mics to use in demo recordings for my website.

I recently received some field recordings done with some sort of Sony digital 'walkman' style recorder. They sound FANTASTIC.

Situation: 4 guys talking around a table with a small mono tape casette recorder on the table using the built in mic. This is a teacher-student conference.
Results: Two guys come out with adequate volume, two don't.
Goal: Get all four people recorded with adequate volume.

suggestions for a portable recorder
Forums
Hi!
I'm thinking about hanging around recording sounds (animals, cars, noises, whatever) to try and play with them. And so i need a portable recorder... 2 tracks ought to be enough (mono or stereo miking), and needs to be plain simple to use.
I was thinking about a minidisc... any suggestions?
By the way, can I use other mics than those designed for the minidisc?
