Snare Drums for recording
Forums
I thought I'd start a thread on snare drums that sit well in recordings. I'd like comment on:
1. Brands, shell materials, sizes.
2. Heads
3. Tuning tips and preferences
4. Snares / other adjustments.
Please indicate the type of music you play when posting.

Recording drums with only L/R channel
Forums
So I'm about to start a project, and I've recorded before, but I have a slight problem. My mixer (Behringer Xenyx 1832FX) has only a L/R USB interface, so if I record say 6 different drum tracks, that all gets mixed down to stereo L/R into my program (Adobe Audition 1.5)

for recording drums...
Forums
Could i use a mixer i have already to mic up all the drum mics into a single channel interface?
What would be the downsides of doing this?
and
What other alternatives do i have if i have 8 mics for the drums but only the single input on the interface?

Best Tom Mics?
Forums
What mics give the toms a lot of flexibility from style to style?
Obviously won't record jazz toms the same as rock toms... what mic will give me a lot of room to move?
Thanks

Old school drum recording - Charlie Brown Xmas
Forums
Nothing like grading partial differential equations exams to make you break out the Christmas music. Put on my all time favorite - Vince Gauraldi's Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack. I love the recording, but started to listen to it with my recording engineers hat on. (I'm not a recording engineer, but play one in my basement.

Drum recording equipment
Forums
Hello I have been drumming for about 10 years and i want to record my drums. I am in a small house and i have no need to record any other instruments.
What would be decent equipment not including mics, for under 5k? (Under 5k if it is possible).

Help with drum recording techniques
Forums
I recently recorded an album not paying much attention to the intricacies that go into getting good drum sounds. I simply used one overhead dynamic mic which ran directly into my computer, no interface. I then used several filters in Adobe Audition to liven up the sound. I wasn't going for a polished sound...
