Micing a Bosendorfer grand...pendelum MDP1 or Grace 201?
Forums
I am a prosumer recordist sticking my toe in the sacred waters of real deal gear. I want to upgrade my fathers recording setup. He is a quite successful artist producing solo piano CDs. cocktailpiano.com
records his elegant playing on a bosendorfer 7 ft grand with a RODE nt1 a senny 421 through about a 350 ART preamp.
obviously time for a step up.
Best mics to record Bosendorfer grand piano
Forums
Hey all > I am going on location to record a very warm, intimate sound on a bosendorfer 7 foot grand. Playing style of the pianist is on the softer side. Standards etc.
If you could bring 2 mics and stereo mic the piano what would be your top pick. Also what stereo mic preamps do you love for this kind of recording/sound.

Mics for grand piano recording under $300
Forums
I have a quality Kawai grand in my house that I've been skimping and saving for years to buy, and I've finally made my dream come true after much close listening and play testing of hundreds of instruments. Now I want to record it and need to get some mics for the job.

Recording Grand Piano

Ok, I'm new. I know a lot of stuff about a lot of things but I don't know much about home recording.
I'm good with a computer and have a fairly fast Shuttle-X system that I would like to use.

recording flute/piano in a church
Forums
Hey all. I'm recording a flute/piano concert in a church next sunday. was looking for some mic placing suggestions. the mics i have available to use are two mxl overheads, 2 c3000b's and a C414B.
I was thinking about just using the c414 as an omni and putting it in front and over head, it's gonna be a pretty quick setup, so anything simple but effective would be cool.

Recording Real Piano and Singer
Forums
Hi,
I posted this in Recording and someone suggested I post it here in Acoustic Music..so here goes...
As I don't have a real piano in my small studio, a client (singer/pianist) asked me if I could record her on the small Yamaha grand piano that is available in our local hall.

Recording real piano and singer
Forums
Hi,
As I don't have a real piano in my small studio, a client (singer/pianist) asked me if I could record her on the small Yamaha grand piano that is available in our local hall.
I was wondering which mic setup might be best. I have a pair of AKG414EB mics that I thought of using in an X-Y config over the hammer area and using a RODE Classic valve mic on vocals.

Piano Recording

This week I get to do a piano recording for an artist I have worked with before. She is a very gifted pianist and the sessions go rather well. I am planning to use a Decca Tree with three Audio-Technica 4050's in bidirectional mode. I have used this setup with this performer before and had excellent results.

Recording piano with the AEA R84?
Forums
Hello Everyone,
I am wondering how some of you have fared recording acoustic (classical) piano with the AEA R84.
I would be grateful to hear your impressions.
I am considering buying a second R84 to record (classical) flute and piano together.
Thank you,
Peace,
