Using a sidechain

Hi am a Cubase sx user.. i use the Wavescompressor a lot on my drums and vocals..it does wonders i must say sometimes.. but i would wana try out something with my snare using the side chain thing u can use on a hardware comp.. what i want to do is this.. i want to use a static noise and side chain it to my snare .. so when ever the snare opens i want the static to open along with it.

Sidechain hipass filter thingie.. in logic..

The Bassdrum controlles the hipass thingie..
And the hipass is on the bass... so when the bass and bassdrum playes thogheter the hipass is about 100 Hz .. and then goes down to 0 hz... hmm.. hope u get it.. hmm. anyone know how to make one in Logic?
Like a Desser but for the frequencies around 30-100 Hz...

Side-Chain misconception, help me, OK?

Hey guys and gals,
Why is a compressor's sidechain a send/return? I mean,
I understand the signal needs to come TO the SC, but why have the ability to send FROM it? Also, does this change the signal to unbalanced at that point, and if so why would I use that signal further along in the signal chain?

Using an equalizer for sidechain compressor processing

Other than for vocal de-essing, what other uses do folks have for an equalizer "side chained" into their compressors? I was thinking that it might help with the overheads/cymbals issue. I'm assuming you could probably use it for most instruments but with what "rule of thumb" settings?
