signal drop out

I recently got an EMU 1212M in my computer - an Abit NF7-S v2, AMD 3200+, 2Gigs RAM, 2 separate HD 1 to which I do only recording. I have some drum tracks I recorded that I have been trying to put some guitar over, but Cubase SL3 keeps dropping the guitar signal. Happens at various times for various times. I have had it drop for a few seconds or for a few minutes.

Signal passthrough SPDIF

With Firewire 410, does the SPDIF limit the signal being passed through?

For example, can I send and recieve 192khz at 24bit signal through Firewire 410 as a passthrough from a source to my pc, without Firewire not touching it?

I was thinking of a solution like Rosetta 200, and maybe with it, I can just go through the Firewire 410 without it doing anything ot the signal.

how to sum 2 line level stereo signals ?

Hi,

To mix several signals in stereo, there is the mixing console, of course ! But i need no eq, no pan, no level control etc... no active circuitry... What i want is just to mix 2 stereo signal that goes out from 2 preamps (BG1), into a 2 tracks recorder (BB+)... (to 'copy' the Nagra V with its 4 inputs !)

Newbie Question - Recording Stereo Signals

Hello RO! Anyone know for sure what the right way is to record a stereo signal? Is a stereo input on the recording console a must? Or can I just run the left and right of the strereo signal into two seperate mono channels with each panned accordingly? Is there any difference between the approaches?

Last hurdle... My Ovation signal's REALLY weak.

I thought the Ovation had a preamp. Plugs in directly, has gain control and EQ settings. But I plugged it into my ESI Juli@ card and got nothing.

Ran it through a Zoom pedal and got a REALLY weak signal.

I take it I need to buy a preamp too?

Or is there a problem with my soundcard/cables/guitar?

:(
